Early and honest — here’s exactly what’s live → Which one are you?Why I’m here
I didn’t set out to spend my life on inheritance. Years ago, when Keith Hatton — whose company I’d helped build — died, his family asked me to step in and steady the ship. I said yes because someone had to. What I saw stayed with me: good, ordinary families left holding a mess at the worst possible moment. And I kept thinking of a friend who was promised one small keepsake by his grandfather and never received it — not because anyone meant to be unkind, but because nobody had written it down anywhere that counted. It just isn’t fair. So I decided to do something about it.
So I built an open standard, OpenInherit, and I give it away free. I make my living from the tools I build on top of it — not from owning the rules. To me, that’s simply the right way round.

Something we built that didn’t exist before —
A calm, WhatsApp-style conversation for everyone involved in an estate — so wishes, decisions and requests are shared and visible, not lost or sprung on people.
A real HeirChat screen
A family in North Wales can bring a sibling in Perth, Australia into the same gentle conversation — consulted, or simply able to see what’s happening.
The same idea powers LegacyChat in LegacyLists, for conversations about collections.
